For those who use Twitter to meet new people

I've been on a mad Twitter marathon the past 48 hours, tweeting like there's no t/row! The thing is, sometimes I feel it's like having a one-way conversation and I get bored easily if there's no feedback.

So, I thought why not take the initiative and start replying to interesting tweets and hopefully striking up a conversation of sorts. And wouldn't you know it - they started tweeting back and my followers rose very quickly, probably more in the past 2 days than in the past month! So now I have these individual streams of interaction running which is ultimately what it's all about innit?

Think about it, hundreds, if not milllions of people all micro-blogging reaching out for whatever reason. It only makes sense they all want some acknowledgement or response or else why would you bother?

So instead of just tweeting your own horn, howsabout going a step beyond 140 characters and striking up a real connection.

140 characters - MAKE THEM COUNT!

But I like tweeting my horn! :))

Seriously though, most people like being engaged or acknowledged....

btw, did you know there are groups who sit around and plan what they are going to tweet about?

Well Alex, I'm glad you've cottoned on. Tweeting is only a symphony when everyone tweets in tune!
There are plenty of out of tune tweeters - we've all been guilty from time to time of this, by just dropping a link to promote something, but on the whole I have very satisfying and encouraging interactions.

If you want to build your list though, that's a very simple process. Just go to someone like JackBastide and invite his followers to follow you. Guaranteed to increase your list by hundreds!!!

Interesting point of view and I must admit that you have a great point

I don't think I could ever go as far as planning what I was going to tweet about. That is a bit whacky for me!
